Della's husband was killed in an automoile accident--but Della, who thought their relationship was based on truth--was beginning to wonder. Her sister came to visit and they decided to investigate. Michelle, one of Della's friends showed up at the store. She was worried about her new next door neighbors. She thought she heard screaming and asked Della and Sophia to come over and see if they heard anything. They did!

Then the woman's husband was in a car accident and died. Kind of suspicious and the police really though it was murder--This man was not a very nice person and there were a lot of people who really might have done it. Could Della and Sophia help the police solve this mystery?

Word of warning--the ending will leave you in suspence. Hopefully the next in this series will be out sooner then soon!

About the Book: (from Amazon)

Della’s sister, Sophia, comes to Clover to help Della discover why the FBI wants to investigate the hit and run case in which Della’s husband was the victim, but the accident occurred over a year ago. Neither Della nor Sophia expect to help solve a possible murder mystery at the same time they’re looking into the hit and run case.

When a man is hated by everyone, and his wife doesn’t shed a tear when she learns that James, her husband, died in a car accident that may not have been an accident, red flags go up. Della had been told that strange sounds were often heard coming from their house, and Sophia is certain James’ wife is a victim of domestic abuse.

Then she and Sophia learn of other things that make them wonder if James’ wife really knew much about her husband. She certainly didn’t know two of the people he worked with who had serious issues with him. He had a fight with one of them while they were at work and the other one had been a victim of domestic abuse. After she saw James’ wife, she thought James was an abuser. Could those be motives for the suspicious death of James?

And his wife has met a man on her daily walks who is more than happy to help her out with yard work the day after her husband died. Very convenient for the wife that her husband is no longer around. Another motive?

While Sophia and Della try to find out why Seth, Della’s deceased husband, had a gun she never knew about, they uncover more secrets about Seth, and everything Della believed about him is upended. Maybe Bea wasn’t the only one who didn’t really know her husband!

I would report it & discreetly watch for when it would be safe to offer help. Had a situation like that for several years when I was a teenager with my mother's alcoholic boyfriend... Dove out the back door of our home (no stairs there) & ran to neighbors more than once.

I most certainly would!! I know what it felt like when a couple of neighbors shut their eyes and ears to my situation in the 1960’s!
Everyone minded their own businesses back then 😢
