There has been so much conflicting information on whether or not to get the second Covid booster vaccine that I just wasn't sure what to do. I am a senior with several health problems. Everytime I read something the time frame changed--everything from 4 months to never! I already had both the original shots and the first booster-and it is actually 4 months to the day that I had the last booster. I still wear a mask when in supermarkets, etc and do try to socially distance even though I am aware that the cases have gone down at least where I live. I am also aware that with this virus there will be lots of mutations in the coming years.
First I called my primary physician--that office never got back to me. Then I called my pulmonary (lung) doctor's office-I figured if anyone would be keeping up with this--and knew me--it would be him. After I assured the woman answering the phone that I was well aware that they did not give the shots in the office-that I just wanted to know how long I should wait before getting that second booster. She got back to me pretty quickly--4 months--and please make the appointment!
After a bit of craziness between calling and then going online--I will be there today at 11 AM. That appointment was a lot easier to make then the last three!! My reactions to those other shots didn't affect me too badly--and I am hoping that this one won't either. I am already getting hit hard with my allergies--so I probably won't even know the difference.
Now I have to find out about my 99 year old Mom. She has a regular doctor appt on Tues so I will ask him then. She really does not go out very often but people do come to visit on occasion and of course she does have aids to help her during the day. And she does go out for manicures and pedicures!! (Yes, she wears a mask). Depending on what her doctor says--I may be back on the computer finding a place near where she lives that have the booster!
In conclusion-if you are not sure about whether or not to get the 2nd booster shot or how long you should wait--ASK YOUR DOCTOR. If they are not sure--ask your pharmacy!!

Thank you for posting a clear message on this topic. There is a lot of misinformation out there and this blog helps. Those of us who have gotten our vaccinations and first booster want to stay protected and another booster is a good idea for us. I will also check with my pharmacy because they seem to be more up to date than calling the doctor's office.
