$25 Amazon/PP-1-WW Mystery at the Field-Dianne Harman Ends 2/24

Wednesday, February 9, 2022

The high school football field was torn apart just after it had been redone. Well someone was not happy that the football field took precedence over the Music Club. You see the Music Club had won a place in finals and were supposed to go to Washington DC. They were told that they could not go because the money had been spent on the renovated field!! To say people were upset is putting it mildly--but who would have wrecked the new field? The Sheriff and Brigid had their hands full trying to figure this one out.

Meanwhile there was trouble between Brigid and her husband over one of the guests at the B&B. That got settled and they decided they needed to hire someone to help.

So who decided to ruin the football field--you will be as surprised as Brigid and the Sheriff. Did the home issues get resolved-who was right and who was wrong. Did they hire a housekeeper? There is an ending to this one that I think may end up turning up in another book!!

You will enjoy this one and how it all ends--not to mention all those delicious recipes at the end!

About the Book: (from Amazon)

Which one’s more important to a high school? The football team or the band? Probably depends who you ask.

There are always two sides to every disagreement, but deciding which one is right can be very, very difficult.

Brigid was suddenly confronted with a number of problems. Some were personal, and some were related to a developing situation at the high school. First, there was a ruined football field. Then the school band members and their parents were all riled up. And to add to her problems, Brigid finds that there are some tears in the cloth that made up her perfect marriage.

Cottonwood Springs is a sleepy little town nestled in the Colorado Rocky Mountains – postcard picture perfect. That is, until the football field is totally damaged by vandals.

Doesn’t sound like that big of a deal, but in a small town like Cottonwood Springs it is. The school board was certain the town would be thrilled by having their football field completely redone. And then the band members, for the first time ever, were asked to perform in Washington, D.C. But the problem was that all the discretionary school funds had been used for the football field repair. Now what?

The band members and their parents were understandably furious that there was no money for them to go to Washington, D.C., but there had been enough money for the football field to be completely renovated. But were they furious enough to ruin it?

And then there’s the problem with the strange guest at the B & B owned by Brigid and her husband, to say nothing of the strain on Brigid’s marriage when her husband is determined to help the guest.

Join Sheriff Davis and Brigid as they try to figure out what happened. And they know they don’t have time to waste, because the little town is sharply divided on the football issue, and there’s a good chance retaliatory acts will be committed.

This is the 17th book in the Cottonwood Springs Cozy Mystery Series by a USA Today Bestselling Author.

I am not a sports person, but I do recognize that sports probably benefits the school financially. I do think it unfair that any sport, and especially football, is prioritized over other school activities/groups, such as music, art, drama.

I was in band from the fourth grade through my senior year of high school. I never was very good playing the clarinet, but I loved the music, the togetherness of the band students, and just the overall feeling of being a part of something. So of course, my choice is the MUSIC GROUP.

My choice would be the music group going to D.C.

I would choose football but I do like to help the arts get the recognition they deserve as well.

There is no easy answer to this question. The subject would have to be studied from all angles. My husband and I both worked in schools and I know that the bottom line often comes down to funding. Sports often bring in more money from admissions, concessions and booster clubs.

Being a band nerd myself, I would have to choose the Music Club.

I would choose the music program. My kids were in music and I guess I see them in this choice.

I would choose football. I was in music since age 7 and was very talented. Regret putting it all aside when I left home. I love the arts and would give if I could.
