Do you like califlower? I do but I rarely make it--and never from a whole califlower. I usually buy it in frozen packages or bags. Last night a neighbor stopped by with a whole Purple Califlower she bought from Whole Foods which she was insistant on me taking. It seems she had somehow brought home 2--don't ask! First I googled Purple Califlpwer to see if there were major difference--about the only difference is that it may have more antioxidents--the taste should be the same. Since I had never cooked a whole califlower in my life I did look up how to prepare it.
I chose to boil it. First you have to remove all the leaves and cut as much of the stem off as you can--this is not as easy as it sounds! Then put it in a pot and fill the pot with water-not totally covering the Califlower. Cover the pot and let it boil. I kept checking until a fork stuck all the way through. When done I removed from the pot and placed it in an aluminum pan. I then broke it up into bite size pieces--sprinkled some Italian Bread Crumbs over it and ate about half of it for lunch. I left the rest in the aluminum pan and covered it with aluminum foil-put it in the refrigerator. It came out pretty tasty!
As I'm sure you know they have been using califlower for absolutely everything these days from Pizza crust to fake mashed potatoes--
