Maybe We Should is the second book in the Silver Harbor series by Melissa Foster.
You are first introduced to Cait in Foster’s previous books, she is reserved, a talented artist and has had a troubled past and upbringing. She is brought to the island upon the new of the death of her birth mother. A woman Cait never knew, but has always felt a bond to.
Cait has begun embracing life on Silver Harbour, throwing herself into working at the Bistro with her half-sisters and getting to know the clientele. One customer of which is the devilishly handsome, overly honest and confident Brant Remington.
Brant is a David Beckham lookalike, who is an avid boat builder and who has lived on the island his whole life. Family means everything to him, and he has a creative free-spirited side, which you cannot help but be attracted to.
When he first locks eyes on Cait, he is instantly attracted, however he knows cracking her will be as difficult as completing a rubicks cube, as Cait has walls, built up from years of mistrust, disappointment and pain, and Brant is desperate to chip away at them bit by bit.
He is refreshingly intimidating with his brutal honesty, what you see is what you get, and he very much wants to get Cait. He isn’t afraid of competition, confident in the chemistry he feels between them. I love his pursuit of courting Cait and winning her over. With the cute inclusion of co-parenting a rescue dog, meaning they are forced To spend lots of time together, the sparks only Continue to become stronger and it’s not long before Cait’s armour begins to crack.
A beautifully written love story of two very intriguing and complex characters. I love the island connections and the mermaid history, and these two are so meant to be together. Their story is genuine, the love is believable and I couldn’t help but swoon for Brant Remington.
I’d recommend to all series lovers and those who love deep and meaningful romances which have quirks and feels.
