For many years the only food types you could find on Central Avenue were Italian, Chinese and Nathans. NOW the times they are a changing! In one mall alone there is a Popeyes, an Arbys, a food court inside the Korean Market and right next door to Arbys is The Halal Guys! I tried it the other day and the food was really good if you like the type they have
From their Facebook Page:
The Halal Guys began as a food cart in New York City. That is when the famous chicken over rice platter, covered in the signature white sauce was born!
Chicken, Gyros, and Falafel Platters. The Authentic American Halal Food. Since 1990.
I had one of the small combo platters with meat and falafel--also included was lettace, tomatoe, cheese (or it might have been rice) and 3 small triangles of pita(?) bread. It was more then enough to fill me up. It was YEARS since I had eatten a Falafel--spicy but delicious!
For those of you who have never heard or tasted a Falafel I googled it for you
What exactly is a falafel?
Image result for what is a falafel
Falafel is a popular Middle Eastern “fast food” made of a mixture of chickpeas (or fava beans), fresh herbs, and spices that are formed into a small patties or balls. It's thought that falafel originated in Egypt as Coptic Christians looked for a hearty replacement for meat during long seasons of fasting or lent.
If you live in the area--this is definitely a place to check out!
