$25 Amazon/PP-1-WW-The Dear Reverend-Dianne Harman Ends 10/20

Tuesday, October 5, 2021

In general I am not a fan of many political figures--most started out as lawyers--and you remember what Shakespeare said about them? (First kill all the lawyers). Having said that there are some, a very few, who have integrity and are honest. This fictional book is about one of them.

Bob Silva was a man who loved his family before anything else. He was one of the best lawyers in California. When he was approached about running for the State Assembly he consulted with his wife and sons and they agreed he should.

What no one expected was that his major opponent was a much loved and revered Reverend. However this Reverend was anything but a nice guy--he used several smear campaigns--really nasty ones--but none of them stuck. Then the biggest surprise of all--Bob's wife found out she was pregnant with twins! She ended up in the hospital towards the end following her doctor's advice. She had the twins. When Bob went down to the room in the hospital that was set aside for his team--he found out he won-Then he found out that the twins had been kidnapped!

A rather unorthodox PI had been working with Bob and he was the one who went to get the twins! Bob had a decision to make--should he accept the election results or should he stay with his family?

I personally loved the decision he made--and even more then that loved what happened to the Reverend!

About the Book: (from Amazon)

Bob Silva has a wonderful rags-to-riches story to tell.

The son of immigrant farmworker parents, he has become one of the most successful attorneys in Southern California. He recently married the love of his life and adopted her two young sons. He’s devoted to his new ready-made family, and they adore him.

Then he’s asked to run for political office, with a promise that his election campaign will be fully funded by some deep-pocket donors. If elected, he would have the opportunity to represent his Latino heritage. He doesn’t think life could get any better when his wife, Nina, tells him he’s going to be the unexpected father of twin girls.

But that was before his election opponent, the Dear Reverend, began to make threats against his family. Bob’s newborns are kidnapped from the maternity ward of the hospital on the day he wins the election and now he’s faced with tough choices,

Family or fame?

When his newborns are stolen, he turns to Slade Kelly, an unorthodox private investigator, to find them. It’s a race against time to find the girls before they’re sold to the highest bidder.

Ahh, the Dear Reverend. If people only knew his real nature. But with Slade on the case, they soon will!

Yes, I think that politicians should be held accountable for their actions the same as anyone else. I would not trust a religious figure before a politician. People in positions of power sometimes abuse that power to hurt others irregardless of their position. I trust based on the actions that I see and not their words.

Yes all politicians should be held accountable for all their actions. It should be equal by the rule of law and Constitution of the USA. Most in office now do not seem to be patriotic Americans but out for power. No I would not trust a religious figure unless I knew him since I have seen some religious scam artist in my lifetime. There is not many politicians I trust anymore especially the one's at the top right now. The one's at the top said one thing while campaigning but have completely done the opposite in office so why would anyone trust them. They are hurting our country and the American people. What they are doing will hurt our children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren for years to come.

I generally don't trust anyone with power, because you never know how they got where they did and what they might have done to get that power.

They run for office so they can change a law that may hurt them in some way. Look at Clint Eastwood, he ran for mayor so he could change the law, so he could add on to one of his buildings. He is not the only one. Some change the laws for good, health care for all, fair job act, ect...

I think it’s a big mistake to generalize any group of people! Some Politicians are not good people. Some religious leaders are not good people. Each person should be judged on their own actions. Or better yet, not judged at all!

I do not trust either one of them. Politicians lie to get your vote and then forget all about their promises - ministers are all about getting a flock to tithe...as always it is about the money . sound cynical, well, at my age I have seem pretty much all of it...

I don't really trust either. If you give someone at least a little bit of power, most of the time they'll misuse it somehow.

Yes, it bothers me that politicians seem to be above the law. I'm also cautious with religious people. Sad to say that I pretty much am cautious with most people now a days.

More and more I'm disgusted by politicians and religious leaders. It seems that honesty and altruism are gone.

I lose sleep over some politicians actions. Some really ARE above the law.

Yes they should be held accountable like everyone else

I think I would trust a politician over a religious figure! Just because a person professes a religion does not mean they are honest!

Veronica Lee said...

Generally, I would trust a religious figure over a politician but then again I've met dishonest religious figures and good politicians. So I guess we should only judge a person by their own actions.

should be accountable

It bothers me quite a bit. There are quite a few corrupt religious figures as well. I would trust on an individual basis.

Holly Thomas said...

I don't trust either one of them.

I don't trust either one of them now. I use to trust religious figures as I grew up in the Catholic church but not anymore.

TDK said...

Its very hard for me to trust. I honestly can say my husband, kids and parents are all i trust

slehan said...

I won't generalize about either group, but there are a lot of bad apples out there.
Thanks for the contest.

I think everyone needs to be held accountable, regardless of their profession. There are a lot of religious authorities that have also been culpable of heinous acts.

Everyone should be held accountable for their actions especially politicians and religious leaders.
