This is observational on my part--there is no scientific proof thst I am aware of--it is just what I have been observing where I live.
There is a massive tree that I can see out my bedroom window. Normally there are lots of birds resting in that tree and every once in a while they will all fly at the the same time. I guess they are stretching their wings. Lately they have not been around. There is a lot of construction going on-so maybe that is the problem--but I keep thinking aboit the air quality. Could that have made them disappear? It definitely happened right after 911 down in the city--not even a pigeon could be found! It took a long time for them to come back. How do I know you ask--well I worked down there and had to walk from the subway to where I was working--right around the corner from the Twin Towers.
I sincerely hope I am wrong-but it seems to me that birds know when the air is bad and fly away to safer places!

I think they do know! Animals have great instincts.
That is strange. We have tons of birds and wildlife where we live.
i absolutely love pigeons i have not noticed a change in the amount or presence of birds here in wv but you definately could be right on the money there i hate it. i had pet pigeons here before and when i worked in a small town near here i sat on a stoop outside my office and the pigeons helped me with my lunch i miss them so they were my lunch buds lol
That is actually scary but probably very true! Animals are alot smarter than they are given credit for and birds are queens of the air lol. I'm sure they would know better than any other species!
Oh. That is quite absurd. I love birds too. We have tons here.
