The Dog Coach – The Puppy Home School Course-1-WW Ends 3/21

This giveaway is sponsored by The Dog Coach and hosted by Mom Does Reviews.

When it came to training my first puppy--my parents did it, my Dad mostly and he did one really good job! The came my second puppy when I was already in my own apartment--again I was very lucky--the dog who my parents trained--trained that puppy and with an iron paw I might mention. I found my third dog and she came already trained. From what I remember it takes a lot of patience and love to train a puppy. Of course it really does help that they want to please you! But it is not always as easy as it was for my parents--at least they made it look easy!

Although I no longer have dogs this home school course looks like it might be the answer to a lot of people's (and puppies) prayers. I suggest you read the review below then come back and enter!

About The Dog Coach

Who Am I? I've run puppy classes, had many puppies to stay for board and training, and worked one-to-one with hundreds of dogs and their owners. Before that, I too lived through the ups and downs so familiar to many dog owners: clearing up mess or apologizing profusely as a stranger's picnic found itself en route to my dog's stomach.

Finally, with the arrival eleven years ago of Cory, my Labradoodle, and a break from my previous career in publishing and technology, I decided to do something about it! I took courses with some of the best teachers of modern, reward-based dog training methods. And, for the past ten years, I've been coaching owners to help them train their dogs.

About Puppy Home School:

Puppies are super cute and full of energy. They are also puppies and haven't been taught acceptable behavior. From the new owner side, the family is ready for the puppy to be a member of the family. From the puppy side, they are probably wondering where they are, and where are all their litter mates? Getting a new puppy is said to be like having a new baby. If you have this mindset, understanding the areas of training will begin to make sense.

This course will take you through training your new puppy in 27 lessons in four modules. Each of the modules introduces a new task or area to concentrate on in training.

I don't really have a tip for training a puppy on a lead. We just kinda rolled with it. Our puppy caught on pretty good, for little walks around the yard. She is still crazy on actual walks

i'd recommend stopping everytime they pull til they calm down.

I do not have any real tips, my only suggestion is to be patient. Use all the patience you have. Dogs new to a leash are excitable and their energy can trigger frustration if the human is not calm and ready to take the time needed to teach the pup the ways of the leash.

You must teach with kindness, understanding and above all you are the leader of the pack.
