A good Chef's knife is always a good utensil to own-actually owning more then one is not such a bad idea-I happen to need a new one right now. I'm not certain what the tape light is or does--my guess is that there is a light so that if you have to measure something where there is little to no light this will definitely make it a lot easier to get the correct measurement. Really read both the reviews below then come back and enter--the chef's knife alone is worth it!!
