I have been craving Mussels Fra Diavlo for a while now but never seemed to go to an Italian Restaurant where I could afford it! Today as I was shopping I noticed frozen mussels and grabbed it. Now to find a Fra Diavolo sauce. I must have picked up 5 or 6 jars of various spicy sauces--kept putting each down as I found another. Finally I spotted Sclafani Fra Diavola (medium hot) Sauce--into my basket it went!! I can't seem to find a picture of it online--guess it is only sold in stores as a specialty item. I continued shopping then drove home. Thankfully I had my shopping cart--there is no way I could have carried everything with my bad shoulder.
I know I could have bought mussels in their shells---but why when they are already pre cooked and ready to use? I can be lazy on occasion----
My cat, Baby, wanted her dinner early so I decided to make mine as well. Easy peasy!! Throw the defrosted mussels into a pot--add the sauce--cover so the stove doesn't turn from white to red. Boiled up some spaghetti--Rinse the spaghetti--throw the mussels and sauce into the pot with the spaghetti--toss a bit. Make sure you wash the pot that heated up the sauce and mussels right away! In this case, and please do not tell my Mom, I ate it right from the pot!!
Baby decided she didn't want any--but I had to let her sniff it--she literally turned her nose up and ran back to her own food. More for me!!
I had never tried anything from Sclafani before--but now I think I might just try their pasta sauce!!

I know my tastes do not include mussels. After reading your post, however, I may just have to try them! Thanks for sharing!
