This one had me laughing! Now all Hailey wanted to do was go to the aide of her grandparents--her beloved Grandfather had a stroke. Her Mom could not go because Haily's sister was about to have a baby--and her Aunt--well who knew where she was. She finally got up the gumption to ask her boss for time off. As a bookkeeper (Haily is an accountant) I know the trouble she faced. Her boss relented after making sure she would keep up with her clients and be back before the next quarter-----I was grumbling at that point.
So off she went--her computer in tow. Her Grandparents lived in a senior community but were mighty happy to see her. They definitely needed a bit of help. Of course once Grandma figured out that Hailey had broken up with her fiance (for good reason I might add)--------suddenly she was trying to set Hailey up on dates without her knowledge!! It seems that Grandma was the head of a matchmaking service in their senior community------try to imagine the havoc that could cause! Grandpa, who could not speak after the stroke could not help her.
Then along came Peter, the speech therapist---he had some heartbreak of his own that he was dragging around. Instant attraction--but they both fought it! Grandma had other ideas!!
About the Book: (from Amazon)
Will she risk her heart again?
Since her painful break-up, Hailey Baker spends her free time hiding from her creepy neighbor and binge-watching shows on Netflix. When she receives the call that her beloved Gramps has suffered a debilitating stroke that's left him unable to speak, she's determined to help. Putting her budding career as an accountant at risk, she flies cross country from Colorado to Florida.
Peter Stafford has focused solely on his career as a speech therapist since his divorce. He loves working with his patients and finds satisfaction in helping them regain their speech. He plans to open his own practice, so he doesn't have time for a relationship.
Once in Daytona Beach, Hailey discovers that her grandmother is neck-deep in matchmaking schemes at the retirement community, and Gran's next victim is Hailey. When Gran meets Peter, neither he nor Hailey stand a chance.
Speak to My Heart is a sweet romantic comedy for readers who crave heart flutters, spontaneous smiles, and not-so-simple happily-ever-afters.
