Winston is such a smart dog! You gotta love him. Of course he knows how to get what he wants too. BUT--there is no better protector as he proves in this book!!
Most people look askance at those really rich old men with the really beautiful young brides. Surely she stays with him for the money--right? Well maybe not! For some reason Bernie would not marry her but certainly kept her in a style that befitted a princess--
She wanted his child but he kept refusing until she finally convinced him to leave his sperm at one of those banks so that after he died she could have his child--he finally relented. Did she know that there was a law in California that a man's child-even if conceived after his death could inherit part of his estate?
Well--someone certainly did--and that someone committed murder then proceeded to try to stress Michelle out so much that she would miscarry. Would the plan succeed--and who was this horrible person!!
Another winning novel by Dianne Harman--and of course some really delicious recipes included!!
About the Book: (from Amazon)
Michelle D'Amato's pregnant with San Francisco millionaire octogenarian Bernie Snow's baby, but he's dead, and a lot of people would like to see her dead as well, so her baby can't lay claim to his vast estate. Was that why he was murdered? And if so, who killed him? Was it for his money or revenge?
Bernie had threatened to disinherit his ne'er-do-well son, Larry, and his estranged daughter, Toni, so maybe they murdered him before he could carry out his threat. Then there's Toni's husband, Rocco, who has ties to the mob and is desperate for money. What about Jim, who's still angry with Bernie after he was forced out of the electronics company he and Bernie founded? Or even Dr. T, who operates a sperm bank and facilitated Michelle's pregnancy. He knew her future born child would have a legitimate claim to Bernie's estate, even if she didn't, and that was a lot of money.
Join Liz, Roger, and their dog, Winston, in a race against time as they search for the killer before Michelle either suffers a miscarriage caused by stress or is the next murder victim.

I would like to read Murdered by Plastic Surgery next.
This book sounds very intriguing even to me. Where there is money there is mystery, deception, murder. Hopefully she does not miscarry because even if she knows about the California law the baby shouldn't suffer. Although I think in some instances love can be blind even to age.
I adore Dianne and her writing. There is no way I could pick one favorite title.

I think MURDER IN COTTAGE #6. Thanks so much!
My Mom loves a good mystery. She also has read a couple of books where an animal played a key role that she enjoyed so this book might be a fit for her.

I have not read any of Dianne Hartman's books, so I would like to start with a single book instead of a series. Blue Coyote Hotel sounds like an intriguing read, so that is the book I would like to start with. Thanks for the giveaway!
I haven't read anything by Dianne Harman yet, so I'd want to start w/ her first book.
I like cozy mysteries and, since I live in the SW desert, would like to start with Murder and the Monkey Band.
