I am forever in one grocery store or another--if not for myself-with and for my Mom. Now I may have mentioned that my Mom will be 95 in November and is in really good shape mentally. She is able to walk with just a cane after her hip surgery but is kind of unsteady once in a while. She has never--and I mean never had strong arms. She has always managed to get people to carry things for her. She lives on the the second floor of a walk up. Why do I mention this?--because guess who has to carry her bundles up there. Now I just turned 68 and I am not in the greatest shape. For a while there she had someone coming in to help her out a couple of hours 5 days a week. I convinced her to let them take her food shopping so they could lug those bags up those stairs! Well, she decided that she does not need any one to help her any more (she lives alone) and told the agency to stop sending the people. Great--that means I am back to lugging those packages. There is also a grocery store near her that delivers which she did use for a while. We would go there--shop--and then they would deliver it right to her door!! You guessed it--she wants the better prices at the other stores------
Now there is food shopping for me. I have a shopping cart so it was not really a problem--until recently. The back way into my building is closed off until they can fix the sidewalk which means I have to go through the garage--pull the cart up three steps-and somehow manage to open that really heavy door to get into the basement and off to the elevator. It is not just me complaining--most of the building is pretty upset as well.
When I saw the below I thought---that is not a bad price for delivery. I doubt my Mom will go for it --but I sure would!
Yes, Amazon now has a Food Pantry which can be ordered from and then delivered right to your door--think cat litter, canned goods--all those heavy items. Of course there is a whole lot more--even items from Whole Foods. Amazon recently purchased the actual stores.

No disrespect to your mother but at 69 I would say either get your helper back at least once a week or pay the $14.99 for Amazon or there is the store that delivers. Now, I clicked through and our area, I tried a few zips has to wait til they expand to reach us.
Time for mom to hire a high school kid! They'd do it for cheap!
Yes, we've talked about this a bit before. She is your mother and you do love her but you also need to take care of yourself and she needs to realize you can not help her if you are injured or ill. I agree with finding a college student to help your mom.
Amazon has almost everything you can think of now for sale. It is awesome that they have Amazon Fresh and they even sale whole foods now. I have to admit I would also pay this price monthly for delivery right to the door. Thanks for sharing the awesome information.
I have to check out Amazon Pantry! Sounds like an amazing service! Thanks for sharing!
