I trust a dogs intuition--especially when it comes to people. They seem to know who are the good guys and who the bad with just a glance! So when DeeDee's Husky adored Al De Duca, a retired enforcer for the mob-(his boss for many many years had been killed which is why he retired)-I knew he was essentially a good guy. He first appeared in Murder in Seattle (see my review here) where he helped DeeDee solve a murder and exonerate her daughter's new husband. Now he lives in the Cayman's. He is trying to learn how to swim but he is afraid of water--yeah this big frightening man is petrified of water and don't let him see a spider. He was living peacefully with his red Doberman when he received a phone call----
DeeDee and Jake had just broken up. DeeDee had a big New Year's Eve catering job for a very famous television personality. The party was a total success. DeeDee cleaned up--put the remaining items in her car and sat for a while when suddenly she saw someone running straight at her car! The person turned and ran in another direction. The next day DeeDee found a note under her wind shield wipers threatening her life! It seems the hostess of the party was found dead near the pool house and the murderer thought DeeDee had seen who it was. Jake was no longer there to help her! Her daughter, just home from her honeymoon finds out and calls Jake who calls Al---Al made it to DeeDee's house that evening--no easy feat.
Now--they have to figure out who the murderer is. So many suspects--but with Al on the case DeeDee was safe. Somehow Al is also trying to figure out how to get Jake and DeeDee back together while tracking down the murderer--and there is someone he is really interested in getting to know better as well. This big lug is one of the most lovable characters!
There is a recipe at the back of this book that I would love to try--but I fear there is no way I would be able to make it. All the recipes sound delicious--but that Chocolate Tiramisu Cake Recipe----------------
About the Book: (from Amazon)
Ever heard of someone celebrating New Year’s Eve by committing murder? Well, it happened, and the killer is now looking for DeeDee!
That’s the situation DeeDee found herself in after the very successful New Year’s Eve party she catered for Dana Donnelly, the popular hostess of the Seattle television entertainment show, New Day NW. The successful party quickly became a distant memory when Dana was found murdered near her pool house. It didn’t help that the murderer was certain they’d been spotted by DeeDee, and she could identify the killer.
DeeDee had ended her relationship with, Jake, her PI boyfriend, so she had no one to turn to for help when the killer sent her a threatening note telling her to keep quiet or she’d be the next victim. Her sister, Roz, calls on Al De Duca to help. He’s a retired enforcer for the mob who’s afraid of spiders and the open ocean, but has a heart of gold. Can he make it back from the Cayman Islands in time to prevent DeeDee’s murder?
But just who was Dana’s murderer? Dana’s spurned billionaire shipping magnate and longtime lover? His jealous wife? Dana’s husband who has a serious gambling addiction? Her television substitute who desperately wants her job? Or the television star she outed when she disclosed his sordid past on her show?
It becomes a race against time to see if Al, her Mafia bodyguard, can find the murderer before DeeDee becomes the next victim. Fortunately, her estranged boyfriend, Jake, and her loyal husky, Balto, are there to help Al, but will it be enough?

I drool over so many recipes but rarely make them. This sounds like a great book I always like when the bad guys become good guys! He will not safe her Dee Dee but Jake will in my guess. I'm thinking he will become more a part of the books.

All of the above? Is that an answer? :) They are probably all amazing! :)
