This very short novelette is the prequel to the first book in this series--which I haven't read but am certainly going to! The characters come alive with every word read. The story line is chilling-the scenes worded so that you feel you are right there in the action. I defy you to put this down before you are finished. I can't say much more or I might give it all away--At the moment this is free for Kindle-but who knows for how long!
About the Book: (from Amazon)
The Ray Collins Case - A novelette in 17k words to introduce Detective Chief Inspector David Jones:
Birmingham, England, a sunny day in the city park. Children play, adults stroll - and a man lies dead in a pool of blood. His terrified fiancé screams for help.
The assailant smiles, waves goodbye and strolls away to hide in the city.
DCI Jones, together with his protégé, Detective Sergeant Phil Cryer are called to investigate the most difficult of crimes - an apparently motiveless and random attack. Hampered by a lack of resources, Jones and Cryer have to act quickly to prevent a murder spree.
What readers are saying about Kerry's books:
The Transition of Johnny Swift - "The idea behind this book is great and only a talented writer could have pulled it off."
The DCI Jones Casebook: Ellis Flynn - "Donovan has given readers another perfectly written nail-biter that is impossible to put down. Not a wasted word."
The DCI Jones Casebook: Raymond Francis Collins - "Donovan's skills as a writer bring us along on a story and we forget we are reading. Excellent."
