This is one fast read--and one I won't soon forget. Paige, an FBI agent used to have a best friend from childhood-that friend had been gang raped when they were on vacation in Mexico and the repercussions put that friend in the hospital for years. Her Mom had recently had the doctor pull the plug and Paige was devastated. It was never proved that the person did it--and he had been released from prison. Paige could not let the past go--she had to face this man-not to kill him but to let him know just what he had done. She took a trip to California where this person was with her current boyfriend-a police officer. This is where the action really begins! She goes to his house (alone-much to her boyfriends distress) and literally ransacks the place looking for any evidence--date rape drugs etc. While she is there the police are alerted and they come and arrest her. Not wanting her boyfriend to know--her one call is to one of her ex's who also is FBI. They converge on California-they know Paige is not capable of the BRUTAL murder she is being accused of. Then her boss thinks--maybe we have a serial killer---but is the killer male or female? Will they exonerate Paige? How many have to fie before the hard nosed sheriff will admit that Paige is innocent? Will Paige and her boyfriend be able to learn to trust each other again? A lot of questions--you will have to read the book to get the answers! You can start by reading the excerpt below.
Sometimes the past should stay there…
The murder is one of the most heinous FBI agent and profiler Brandon Fisher has ever seen. But that’s not why he and two members of the team are rushing to California. The Bureau is interested because the prime suspect is one of their own, Paige Dawson.
But Paige didn’t go to Valencia to kill anyone. She had set out on “vacation”—her new lover in tow—only to confront the man who raped her friend twenty-some years ago. While the hands of the law are tied, she wants him to face the fact that he destroyed a young woman’s life and know that, as an FBI agent, she’ll be watching his every move. Yet, instead of accomplishing her goal, she wound up in the back of a police cruiser.
Now Paige must face off with a hard-nosed detective determined to stick a murder charge to a fed. But with the trained eyes of the FBI on the case, it’s becoming more and more obvious that the evidence lends itself to a serial killing, not an isolated incident. And as long as the local authorities are focused on Paige, the real murderer is still out there, possibly waiting to strike again…

I love a good mystery or whodunit! There are also times that a fast read is perfect, if it's a good one I can get engrossed and finish in a day.

Hush money! They call it that for a reason.
I would pay them off.
My grandfather loves books with law enforcement themes because they are so full of action. This one sounds like it would really be a page-turner for him.
Sounds like a really interesting read with such a thrill!
I'd first try to let them know how important it is that this secret is kept hidden. Otherwise, I'll just turn them into another secret of mine.
I'd let them talk all they wanted and try to convince others that they didn't know what they were talking about.
Besos Sarah.
This sounds like a good one, and thanks for the excerpt! I also entered the giveaway - woot woot!
Wow! This sounds crazy! Thanks for the excerpt!

Terrific! :)
I hope you do. Thank you.
I would probably have to bribe them to keep them quiet.
So far I don't have any hidden secrets that I would want to hide.

Thanks for the great giveaway!
Work out some kind of deal
I would bribe them.
I would do a mix of fear and reward. I'd learn what they wanted and offer it (if I could, or something comparable) and also let them know in no uncertain terms what the consequences would be if they revealed my secret.
I think blackmail would be the way unwound keep someone from sharing my secret.
