This is cozy mystery--the first in the series about a private investigator who is trying to get it right! According to his parents (he didn't become a doctor or a lawyer), sister (hey its his older sister) and even himself there has been very little in his life that had gone right. He had lost almost all the money he had when he invested it in a "sure thing". So now, license or no license he had to somehow become a private investigator. I mean really--the printers even got his business card wrong!!
He put an ad in the Pennysaver and got a walk in almost immediately. It seems there was a death at a senior home and he was asked to please prove that it truly was of natural causes that the gentleman died. That was all fine and good--how hard could that be? Well--clues kept appearing that kept changing our private investigator's mind--and he really was determined to get to the bottom of this-his first case!!
Will he, in his bumbling way, find out whether it was murder--will he get the girl (the first girl who ever took an interest in him--and will he re order his business cards with the incorrect version or the one it should have been? This is a cute read and you should enjoy it. There will be more in the series which I will try to read.
About the Book: (from Amazon)
Winston Wong used to test video games but has left his downward spiraling career to follow in the footsteps of Encyclopedia Brown, his favorite childhood detective. When the Pennysaver misprints his new job title, adding an extra “s” to his listing, Winston becomes a “Seniors Sleuth.” He gets an easy first case, confirming the natural death of a ninety-year-old man. However, under the surface of the bingo-loving senior home is a seedier world where a genuine homicide actually occurred. Winston finds himself surrounded by suspects on all sides: a slacker gamer administrator, a kind-hearted nurse, and a motley crew of eccentric residents. To validate his new career choice (and maybe win the girl), he must unravel the truth from a tangle of lies.
