I read and reviewed the first two books in this three book series-The Metronome and The Great Game. Both of these books do contain historical facts even though The Metronome is written in the past tense-both of the other books are in the future. Politics all over our world is rife with Greed and Dangerous character's. All you need to do is read a newspaper to realize this. So--what would happen if this continues on-that is what these books attempt to discern. Looking forward and hoping it doesn't really happen! The third and last book in this trilogy kind of pulls it all together--the ending will make you think! I still say that all these books can be read as stand alones but there is some overlap and I do suggest you read all 3 and then act accordingly!
About the Book: (from Amazon)
The Outer Circle is the last book in The Counterpoint trilogy. It brings together the characters of The Metronome and The Great Game to conclude their stories.
It’s 2024 and the world is divided, pitting the United States against the combined forces of China and Russia. In China, domestic unrest pushes the leadership to act against Taiwan. In Russia, under the surface a power struggle is brewing. Such is the backdrop of the U.S. presidential elections where the established parties face a challenge from unexpected political newcomers.
The two heroes of The Great Game, now fugitives, discover that not everything is what it seems and someone invisible is pulling the strings behind the scenes. But can they stop the events set into motion before the world slides into a war?

About the Author: (from Bookclubreading.com)
D. R. Bell is a pen name. I grew up in the former Soviet Union, now live in the US with my family and an old beagle. I have graduate degrees in business and engineering and spent many years writing boring technical, business, and legal papers. This is my first attempt at writing fiction and I loved every minute of it.
The Great Game has been influenced by my growing in a communist society, the society that was started with noble intentions – but the end result of good intentions was a nightmare. The rights of individuals were being trampled in the name of the “greater cause”. The calls to equality were masking an advantaged elite gathering wealth at the expense of everyone else. I am not sure all the Americans appreciate how fragile a true democracy can be.

My husband loves books like this. He even writes stuff like this in his free time!
You have this knack for reading the most interesting sounding books. This one sounds fantastic.
I need to check out the previous books. This one sounds interesting, but maybe something my husband would like a little more.
Oh, I have a friend who would love this one! Sharing!
Don't you just love when you find a good series to read? It makes book hunting so much easier.
We're watching a TV show right now set in the same era. This might make a good follow-up once we're done with it.
This book makes scared - the future could definitely turn out like this! Thanks for sharing your review.
I love books like this that would glued you to your chair and keep reading to find out what happened at the end.
Great review! The books you review are all so interesting.
Pitting the US against Russia and China? Sounds like an interesting story line. Thanks for sharing.
I'm not much into politics =o) but from your description, it sounds great.
Yeah not very political either. I honestly try to stay out of politics as much as possible.
I have a feeling the books aren't too far off from what will actually happen if our leaders can't get it together. I feel this country slipping away more and more each day. This sounds like a fascinating read.
I'm glad the third one wraps it all up. This sounds appealing tome.
My dad tells me that he doesn't understand my reading of fiction so regularly. I try to tell him you can still learn so much. From the description, I have feeling I would get to know a lot about the author's experience growing up in a soviet country.
This sounds like an interesting read.
I never had the pleasure of reading any books of D.R Bell in the past, though I’m hoping to do it soon. Based from the review you posted, it sounded like a very educational and enjoyable read.
This isn't necessarily my cup of tea - but it sounds like something my husband would love to read. The entire trilogy is definitely right up his alley.
This sounds like a very intriguing book. I love the plot and how much is going on.
This sounds fascinating! Adding it to my to read list!
You are so right about the state of politics and the enormously weathy. None of us can afford greed and corruption to continue ruling us, but that looks like the path we seem to be on as a people. It can get downright scary to think about.
