I found another cozy mystery series that I love! I am really not sure where I saw this--possibly an advertisement somewhere? All I know is I went in and bought it. Luckily I caught Book 1 of this series. Maybe it is the cats and other animals that are catching my eye (I do love animals)--well whatever it is a change from those politically charged or brutal books or historical romances that I also seem to accrue by the dozens!
The about the book below says it all--but what it doesn't say is how you will enjoy some of the secondary character's. There is a bit of humor in this book. I personally could not help but grimace when I heard one of the cats was on top of something--you see I have a cat--I could guess what might happen!! And YES-cats do have a way of getting their way or making it known when they are unhappy about something!
About the Book: (from Amazon)
Forty four million dollars. A Victorian mansion. And a young career woman with cats. The prospect sounded like a dream come true; what could possibly go wrong? How could a friendly town’s welcome turn into a case of poisoning, murder, and deceit? When Katherine “Katz” Kendall, a computer professional in New York City, discovers she’s the sole heir of a huge inheritance, she can’t believe her good fortune. She’s okay with the clauses of the will: Move to the small town of Erie, Indiana, check. Live in her great aunt’s pink Victorian mansion and take care of an Abyssinian cat, double-check. With her three Siamese cats and best friend Colleen riding shotgun, Katz leaves Manhattan to find a former housekeeper dead in the basement. Ghostly intrusions convince Colleen, a card carrying “ghost hunter,” that the mansion is haunted. Several townspeople are furious because Katherine’s benefactor promised them the fortune, then changed her will at the last minute. But who would be greedy enough to get rid of the rightful heir to take the money and run? Four adventurous felines help Katz solve the crimes by serendipitously “searching” the Internet for clues. A fun, fast-paced book for all to enjoy. First book of the series. About the Author: (from Amazon)
I grew up in a very small town (Battle Ground, Indiana). There wasn't much to do, so I spent my time reading, writing short stories, and of course, because I'm a Hoosier, attending high school basketball games. I have a sister who is also a writer (Alexa Grace) and a brother who works for Purdue University. My other closest relatives are my Mom, two nieces, a nephew, and my husband. My Dad passed away in 1995. As I was growing up, we moved around a lot but always stayed in Tippecanoe County. My favorite house, which my parents rented for a year, was a Gothic-Victorian built in the 1870s. As a teenager, I loved to climb up to the tower room and write. In college, my favorite class was "Creative Writing". At that time, I wrote science-fiction stories until the professor pulled me aside and said I needed to write about what I know. This is what I have done in my first novel The Cats that Surfed the Web.
I've lived in various places in my life. I went to Indiana State for a few years, then moved to Georgia to graduate from Columbus College with a degree in History/Education. I obtained a master's degree in anthropology at Purdue University, and then conducted an ethnographic fieldwork (all-but-the Ph.D. dissertation) in Brighton Beach, New York. When I decided that pursuing an academic career wasn't for me, I worked for a major computer company, riding the subway from Brooklyn to mid-town Manhattan. But my heart wasn't in the big city. I saved for years until my husband and I were able to buy a Victorian house in Indiana. Now we live in a Queen Anne built in 1897; it's a "painted lady" with four colors in the paint scheme. I've spent many hours restoring my beloved house. And we have lots of cats, mostly "rescues." We rarely say "No" to a sociable stray that shows up at our door.

This actually sounds like a page turner. I don't have much books with animals so would like to pick this up. I wonder how many there are in this series though.

What a perfect read for a cat-Momma like you. I miss having cats at home. I grew up with cats but can't have one now since hubby is allergic..

I love cat mysteries and I haven't read one in AGES! I will have to remedy that and this one sounds fun!
This looks like a really unique and fun book! I'll definitely check it out! Thanks so much!
I really love reading your reviews and I love sharing them with others as well.
I remember when Hunger Games came out and I said I wouldn't read a book about kids killing each other. Then I heard how awesome it was and I binge-read all three books in about a week. So while I normally wouldn't care about a book with cats, your description telling about how it goes beyond the mystery and even sub-characters are good makes me realize "you can't judge a book by its cover." Maybe I'll have to check this out after all. :)
I'm not even a cat person and this sounds good. I love a good cat mystery!
Interesting - I think I will give this book a try
Thanks for sharing this unbiased review. I look forward to reading this book.
You know what, I never knew there were so many cat books until I started coming over here to your blog! There really is something for everyone!
I live in Indiana, so that alone makes me want to read this. I remember there was a tv show on years back called Erie, Indiana that I loved. It really does sound like a fun read!
Hi! I’m the author, writing under the pen name of Karen Anne Golden. Thank you so much for your wonderful comments. “The Cats that Surfed the Web” is the first book of my Cats that . . . Cozy Mystery series. Being a cat lover with lots of cats, I had a lot of fun writing it. The book is available in paperback and the Kindle version is only 99 cents. If you don’t have a Kindle, Amazon has an app which allows you to read on a different device. And, again, thank you so much for your kind words.
Sounds like a fun read! Thanks for sharing such great books with us! I'm adding this to my "To Read".
I too have a cat and am a cat lover. This book sounds so fascinating. I would love to read it and uncover the mystery.
I'm not really a cat person, but I do love a funny cat video online. This sounds like I'd get a good chuckle while still having a chance to become immersed in a good story.

Sounds like a fun and interesting read. I was sold on the idea of the humor of cats. They are definitely characters within themselves.

Ahhh the cat women! I often wonder what happens to the cats! This will likely give me a clue :)
