Maggie Madison has done it again. She has been abducted! All because of a paper she was about to deliver on a possible water source under the Middle East that was referenced in the Bible and by the Reformationist Luther. Grace-who is the Mom who talks to herself a lot (but who could blame her) immediately sends a call to arms to her family. Jeff, the brother who just happens to be on his honeymoon and her husband who swears he is going to get Maggie and keep her home on the ranch! Maggie manages to extricate herself and meet up with her family but just has to find the last piece of the puzzle that will prove her theory. Mom is still mumbling to herself. Grace's old professor gets in on the act then he and his octogenarian twin disappear! More mumbling from Grace. As they travel from Paris to Rome and other countries intrigue follows (with more mumbling from Grace). Meanwhile two of their companions are vying for Maggie--should Grace get involved? When Mark (Dad) literally rides to the rescue and everyone thinks the real troublemaker is dead-----------You and I both will have to wait for the third in this series!

I chuckled at your citing Grace talking to herself because I have written about 20 percent of the third book, and Grace still is . . . mumbling. However, it's not because of Maggie this time!

Well, it's evident that you love to read. It's sounds really interesting, and it's kind of like a movie that you hate that it's the end, and it goes on with another series, which is totally awesome. I'm not much of a reader myself, but if I was that would be the kind of books I read. Something in a series like this. Thanks for sharing.

Sounds like a tangled web of mysteries. I prefer reading a book that doesn't have a hanging/mind-guessing ending .

Yes! It's a cliffhanger. But then, so is life.
Yes! There's a religious theme, but one of the best compliments I'm getting (other than readers wanting to be my protagonist) is that it's not preachy. Religious history weaves in and out of the book, but it is NOT Christian fiction.
Yes! There's an abduction. But brains and a sense of humor go a long way toward escaping from a sarcophagus.
Yes! You might not be familiar with the author, but then again, sometimes I'm not, either. Even though I AM the author.
And yes! You should read When Camels Fly, book 1, first. Not because I'm trying to sell two books, but because you need to get to know archaeologist Grace Madison there.

This is an interesting abduction story. It is like more than watching a movie. My sister is a book addict and she prefers to read a novel than a movie.

I read this book a few months back. Sadly, I didn't read the first one so I felt a little lost in some part. Overall, good book though.
Hey, Chrystal! I appreciate you bringing up the option of reading the first book, When Camels Fly, first. The literary agent and I are learning how to position these works, and one of the biggest lessons is the need to read the series in order, if at all possible.
We think readers enjoy reading the Parched series in order partially because of protagonist, since a contemporary female protagonist in international suspense is a bit of an oddity.

I have a love-hate relationship with books that are in a series; I love knowing I have more to read and that the stories will be in-depth, but then I hate when the series ends. This sounds like a great book to add to my must read series - after Ive read the first, too!
Sara-Jayne, I so know what you mean about a series ending. But to encourage you, I'm in my fifties. So as long as there is archaeology and water war in exotic places, I'll still be writing about archaeologist Grace Madison.
