Book Review- Brood X -Michael Phillip Cash

Just when I thought it was semi safe to watch the weather again to what did my much too agile eyes appear

Huge swarm of bugs appears on weather radar

As if that wasn't bad enough within two days I received Brood X in the mail. This is the only one of Michael Phillip Cash's books I had not read-probably because I don't like bugs and I was shying away from it!! I did do a book reveal at one point-but had never read it. This book takes place in Long Island-much too close to where I live. I am still reading all his newer books-he seriously is one of my favorite authors.

Well, with trepidation I opened the book and finished it--shivering all the way through (did I mention I don't like bugs?)When the people of this little town were warned about the Cicada invasion which was about to occur some believed it and stocked up on supplies--others left town (that would have been ME). Seth doesn't really believe any of it and does nothing-even though his wife is pregnant. They end up with house guests and then the unthinkable happens--trillions of cicadas suddenly come up out of the ground.

Who will live and who will die and more important will a way to get rid of these bugs be found? Read it to find out! 10 stars (even though I may never sleep peacefully again)

About the Book: (from Amazon)

Seth is laid off from work. His wife Lara just found out they are expecting a baby this summer. Seth plans on documenting the entire pregnancy with his brand new digital camcorder.

During an evening home watching television, the news reports that a swarm of cicada (Brood Ten) are expected to overwhelm the entire Northeast.

Brood Ten is vicious and ready to invade.

During a sweltering summer night, Brood Ten emerges and wreaks havoc with the electric grid, phone and cell service, wi-fi, food and water supply. Civilization as they know it is gone.

Seth and Lara are thrown back to the stone age in their own home with trillions of cicada trying to deposit their eggs and breed.

Fast paced and filled with tension, Brood Ten is the perfect summer read when you’re sitting outside listening to the cicadas sing.

I'm not a fan of bugs at all so I'm not sure I'd enjoy it. But at .99 it's worth a shot!

I don't like bugs either. They give me the creeps! This sounds a good read, though.

Actually, that did happen here in the Midwest. During MayFly season this year there was so many swarmed together that they did in fact appear as as storm on radar. When we were driving up north through them it looks like you are approaching small funnel clouds. So weird.

I believe I will definitely have to stay away from this one. Just the thought of bugs or insects or anything of that nature gives me that "itchy" feeling. Not sure if I'd be able to handle it but I'll look into it a bit further. :)

This sounds like a horror story! I remember the movie Arachnophobia from many years ago, and still have horrid thoughts about being invaded by millions of spiders. Those cicadas would give me a heart attack, they are so nasty looking!

Eek. These things are what night terrors are made of. If it floats your boat then sounds like a great story line.
