I actually read and reviewed the second book in this series, The Ice Cap and the Rift, before I read this one (the first). I mentioned that I probably should have read the first first and the author read my review. He wrote back to me and asked if I would like to review the Mountain Place of Knowledge. Of course I said yes and it was sent to me! Thank you so much. A lot of the questions I had are now answered--whew---
This book is every bit as good as the second. It really keeps you turning those pages late into the night. I just did not want to put it down! There is political intrigue aplenty surrounding a mountain in Belize. What is inside the mountain will astound and astonish you. I am eagerly awaiting the third and final book in this series, The Numarians. I can not say enough nice things about this author and his books!

About the Author: (from author's website)
I live in a small beach-house I call The Writing Rock, located on Estero Island, better known as Fort Myers Beach, FL. Typically I spend Oct-May writing and editing my thrillers and enjoying the great Southwest Florida weather. The rest of the time I periodically pack up my toys aboard “White Fang,” my customized, Toyota FJ Cruiser, and set up camp at special spots to write and enjoy nature. Two or three times a year I visit my kids and their families and stop in on old friends.
As far as education is concerned, I obtained a graduate degree in Resource Development from Michigan State University, and another, after a stint as an officer in the USMC, in International Management and Finance. Business wise, I spent some sixteen years in investment banking and small business consulting. And then the forks in the road: divorce and the search for meaning.
My career melted away in the face of disillusionment and the question of worthy purpose. I studied yoga, the science of oneness with God, and made a living as a professional waiter. The search for meaning never led me back to climbing a corporate ladder. Moving from place to place as I was led, I remained celibate, immersed in understanding the nature of reality. The sojourn led me to discover the simplicity and self sufficiency of living aboard a thirty-foot sailboat, and gave me a treasure trough of experiences.
When I settled my boat in the back-bay of Fort Myers Beach in 1998, the writing started. Training and combat experience in Viet Nam as a USMC officer, the ongoing search for meaning, a survivalist’s mentality, and the many and varied challenges I experienced in business and finance, are the eternal springs that I hope add flavor, depth, and authenticity to my writing.

How nice that the author sent you the first book in the series so you could catch up on everything..... and it is a REAL book!!. LOL Ebooks to me aren't real but one day I guess I will have to change my mind on that.
Techno thriller! I didn't knoe such genre exist. I am curious how different it is so will try to get a copy of this book.
Thank you for sharing Miki!
Very cool that the author read your review of the 2nd one and sent you the first to read. I agree it would be hard to understand a series if you had to jump in the middle.
That sounds like a great read. It reminds me that i haven't started my summer reading yet.

I love this type of thriller that is packed with adventure. I don't read too many series that focus on political storylines, but you make this one sound like a must-read!

That's so nice to see author's reading and responding to reviews of their work. It was, IMHO, AWESOME to have had him send you the first book. I know I'll be downloading a few books to read on the plane (I'm traveling this weekend)... so maybe this could be one of those must download and read
I just love that the author reached out to you like this! And the book sounds totally fascinating - I'm going to have to check it out (but in order, of course!).
Sounds like a very interesting book! Anything involving Native American cultures has always interested me, but the Mayans, Incans, and Aztecs were always particularly intriguing because of how different they were!
I think it's great that you're getting this kind of exposure with the authors. I love all your reviews. You get ME really interested. This sounds like a great read. I am always for a good thriller!
