First a little background info here. I met this author while playing scrabble on facebook about a year ago. (I no longer play scrabble) We came to realize that we actually grew up in the same town although did not know each other back then. I did however go to school with her cousins! When June told me her book was finally finished and published I went in and bought it. I knew and know the streets she mentions-having walked them many times--I was also able to catch the fictional names of the town and the clubs. For me it was somewhat of a walk down memory lane. For you it will be a novel that catches your imagination and you will be allowed to experience life in a small town with all its ups and downs.. It is essentially a coming of age novel in the mid 1960's--when things were very different then they are today! June not only tells the current story but she goes back generations to explain the family history and how they arrived in America.
This book is relatively long but I could not put it down-it was just so darn interesting! It has a somewhat sad but happy ending--

It's always fun if you can picture the atmosphere of a story. This sounds like a book to show my daughter.

I think the 60's are a great era for a time piece like this one. Being a teenager in that decade was incredibly different for teenagers now, but of course many of the social dilemmas they face are the same!
