I first heard about this author when I was asked to put up book spotlights. I never actually read these two novels:
Brood X: A Firsthand Account of the Great Cicada Invasion
STILLWELL: A HAUNTING ON LONG ISLAND
(click on links to see the book spotlights)
I did, however, get a copy of his first novella-whether I purchased this on my own or it was sent to me I honestly do not remember. I did not review it on my blog at the time. To this day it keeps popping into my head at various times-a short and poignant story which I am sure anyone would enjoy!
About The Hanging Tree (from Amazon)
Seventeen year old Arielle is at a crossroads in her life. Disenchanted with her father, she is testing the boundaries of his trust by dating someone he does not approve. Under the moonlit sky in Long Island, Arielle and her boyfriend meet beneath the infamous hanging tree. The couple's destiny is rooted to the five spirits in the tree whose lives and deaths are determined by an ancient curse. Will her future be determined by the past or will Arielle's choices alter the course of her life?
This novella is currently .99 on Amazon and I really do suggest you get it-it is a very quick read!
At any rate when the author contacted me and asked if I would read and review Schism (Book 1 of a planned series)-I said yes. I definitely like how this author writes. I finished this book in a little over 2 hours. It is about a mythical world where there are three types of life forms. There are those who live up in the clouds who essentially rule, there are those who live in the tree tops and then there are the outcasts who live on the ground. But times are changing in the land and the King has married a different type of being and they have a child. The King has a brother--hum------Yes, this is a good vs evil type book with lots of action. Your teens will love this one so after you read it--hand it over!!
I was happily surprised when I received Schism in the mail AND Stillwell-A Haunting on Long Island. Thank you Michael Phillip Cash-as soon as I read it I will put up a review of this one as well. (Now the only one I need to get is Brood X!!)
About the book (from Amazon)
On the planet Darracia, an ever-widening social gap between its inhabitants is causing turmoil that is fracturing a once peaceful world. Struggling with his identity, nineteen year old Prince V'sair must harness the power of the elusive Fireblade, the secret to a warrior's heart, in order to overcome his uncle Staf Nuen's lust for supremacy. Will the energy of the Elements guide the young prince to his true destiny or will Staf Nuen conquer Darracia?
After the success of his first three books (Brood X, Stillwell, and The Hanging Tree) Michael Phillip Cash is fulfilling a dream and creating his own epic fantasy world. Schism: The Battle for Darracia is the first book in a planned series.

Looks like a great sci-fi novel. Haven't read this genre in a while (mostly reading mysteries now), but I think I'll give it a go. At less than a dollar, nothing to lose...
A good book is one that keeps popping into your head long after you've read it! Thanks for sharing.
I like the socio-political hue in Schism. Like a sci-fi version of Animal Farm. :)
Sounds like a great quick read. I haven't read a sci-fi book in years. Thanks for the book tip!
That's a good deal to get those books for only .99.
The Battle for Darracia sounds quite interesting. Thanks for the review, Miki.

Horror and Sci-fi are my two least fav types of reading...that's just me....I'm sure if it's your thing these story's will grab you. Very nice review.
Looks like a great book and an even better price! Thanks for sharing :)
Seems like a good life book. Seems will all tend to try to test people's boundaries in some way, depending on how they affect our lives. Very curious about this!
Looks like a good read. Can't beat the price too!
Sounds like a great read will check it out.
That sounds like a great read.

I have never heard of that author but the book sounds amazing!! I love the concept of past meets present!
I see that you like to do a lot of reading. I have been a member of http://booklookbloggers.com for a while. You can get one free book at a time to review. Once your review is up, you can get another. I wasn't sure if you had heard of it, so I'm sharing the info. :)
I had to look up these books because the title sounded familiar. Once I get my kindle working again (probably need a new one), I'll be buying more kindle books like this
This sounds like a really unique read!
