I read Diana Green's book New Sion and truly enjoyed it. You can read my review of New Sion here. This novella, On the Outside is again about a futuristic society where certain individuals have genes which give them powers which the government would love to eradicate, and they hunt down these individuals relentlessly.
Orla is one such individual and is living hand to mouth-hiding her powers which frighten her until she finds herself with a band of smugglers who want Orla to use her power for their purposes. Actually I came to really like these people-for after all-they too were living on the outside.
Yes, I definitely enjoyed this book and loved how it turned out in the end. You should have no problem allowing your tweens and teens to read this book-of course, as always, you read it first-because only you know what your child can handle!

The plot sounds intense but good, so it's nice to know teens can read it and be okay. Thanks for the validation on that point!! My teen daughter is a big reader these days, and I'm glad!
My teenage step-son doesn't read unless it';s something that's required for school, but then again, he's a boy. What are you gonna do?
Sounds kind of like XMen. I bet my son would like a story like this.
I tend to enjoy Novellas. I think partly because they are so short, meaning I can get wrapped in the story and not lose days at a time to reading :)

I've never read a futuristic novel. Perhaps starting with a novella is a good idea for me.

Novellas are the best to read. You get a great story but yet can finish it in a reasonable amount of time if you don't have a lot of free time on your hands. This sounds very interesting.
I am always on the lookout for books that both my teen and I would enjoy. I like that this one is relatively short, but it seems to have a lot of great content to the story!

On the Outside sounds like a pretty interesting book. I'm usually not big into futuristic books, but I would be willing to give it a try!
Sometimes I really just like reading a novella. Granted, I like long novels, too. But it's nice to just read one that isn't so labor intensive sometimes.
