I have already read one of these books in this series, San Francisco Secrets ( see my review here ) and I loved it-so when I was asked to review this book I jumped on it!
There is a really nasty guy roaming San Francisco and he is strangling blonde woman. Nobody can seem to figure out who he is- Amelia is a blond and Sam is really worried about her --especially since she was chosen to have her picture put on billboards for a TWA advertisement. He wants to keep her by his side at all times-but with her job-Then a blond (bleached) is strangled in Sam & Amelia's apartment building-Meanwhile Sam Slater has been contacted to try and locate an elderly society woman's daughter, who disappeared on a beach one night never to be heard from or seen again. Of course he enlists the aid of his TWA stewardess wife Amelia.
The twists and turns in this book will keep you guessing and although I was able to guess some of it--a lot caught me off guard. Another 5 star for Greg Messel from Miki's Hope!
About the book: (from Amazon)
As 1958 nears an end San Francisco is being terrorized by a man who calls himself the “Fog City Strangler,” who preys on pretty young blonde women. The strangler announces each murder by sending a note and piece of the victim’s clothing to the local newspapers.
Angst mounts as the strangler continues to claim more victims. Private eye Sam
Slater is worried that the Fog City Strangler may be eyeing his beautiful blonde wife, TWA stewardess Amelia Ryan. His anxiety is further fueled when TWA launches an advertising campaign with Amelia’s picture on a series of billboards plastered all over the city. Sam fears the billboards may attract too much attention--the wrong kind of attention.
Meanwhile, Sam and Amelia are hired to try to find the missing daughter of a
wealthy dowager who fears she has lost her only child. The missing woman went for a walk with her dog on Stinson Beach, near San Francisco, and seemingly vanished into thin air. The woman’s husband arrived at their beach house and found the dog running loose but there was no trace of his wife. The police are stumped in their investigation.
As Sam and Amelia look into the disappearance of the woman on the beach they
discover that nothing is as it seems at first glance. On a stormy night a shadowy figure sets fire to the beach house where the couple is staying--hoping to stop their
investigation.
Greg Messel’s Fog City Strangler is a stand-alone thriller but is part of the Sam Slater Mystery Series--Last of the Seals, Deadly Plunge and San Francisco Secrets.

Never heard of this author, but willing to try.
I don't tend to get into the mystery novels too much. Then again maybe I should venture that way every now and again.
I'm sure the butler did it. Or the dog. :-) Deb P

The sounds great, I love mysteries and crime novels.
What do you do to get past writers block?
I've never had writers block where I didn't know what to write about. Sometimes as I'm writing I need to step back for a few days and let my ideas develop. That's especially true in writing mysteries. You can write yourself into a corner and winder how you're going to get out.
I think one of the hardest things in the mechanics of writing is dialogue--making it interesting and natural. Most authors I know would agree. It takes lots and lots of polishing to get it right
I love mysteries and this sounds like a great set! I love that the setting is in the 50's.
I think it is so cool that authors hold giveaways!
interesting looking books, sure hope i get a chance to read them
