Review--Bobby [A Short Horror Story]-Scott Zavoda

Sunday, November 3, 2013

I saw a review of this book that someone (sorry I do not remember who) wrote as I was browsing through Bloglovin'. It looked interesting and I decided to purchase it. This book is only approx 40 pages long and I finished it quickly. It is definitely a horrifying tale--but I could not help but feel that for once-the good guys won, but at what a cost-- Definitely worth the read! You can read a preview of this short story here-just click on the picture of the book cover!

About the book: (from Amazon)

If you believe that those hurting can draw things to them, if a wickedness can live right beside us and remain unheard, if the power of love can change everything, then you need to read Bobby!

Horrifying!
Heart wrenching!
Erie!

You won't put down this gut-wrenching tale about two brothers, one who is disabled, living with an abusive father and attending a school where bullying the disabled is just the way things are. And do you have any idea how a wheelchair might hold onto horrific memories, or what it might do with them?

[Approximately 13,000 words.]

It's the summer of 1979. The weather is fantastic, and Danny can't wait to take his disabled younger brother fishing, away from Dad, away from everything. But Danny has been frightened of Bobby's wheelchair ever since hearing of its terrible history. But those are just stories and its nothing like the real terror, which awaits them at Grady Pond today.

This book can be purchased from Amazon. At the moment at least the cost of the e-book is .99.

I love reading horror stories. At this price it's not bad at all. Might pick this up for my Kindle. I'm in need of some new books.

I love horror stories but this one seems a little too realistic

The cover of this book definitely looks eerie. I love books that are not just entertaining or provide you with that escape all bookworms love, but really make you think afterwards. It sounds like Bobby: A Short Story did just that. 40 pages is such a short story indeed, but it sounds like 40 pages well written!

I think we all like it when the good guys win.. if not, you know there is going to be a sequel. Hmmmm Scott doesn't live that far from me. We are in Cleveland quite often.

I like reading horror stories when I don't know they are horror stories when I start reading them lol. I think now that I know a little bit about this book, I would have anxiety reading it because it sounds a little too realistic for me.

Sounds like a great story! And for the price and the short amount of time required to read it, there's no excuse to pass it by. Thanks for the review.

I am a big fan of horror movies and books so I know that I would love this one. You can't beat the price either, considering that so many of us are wrapped up trying to prepare for the holidays financially.

I don't read a lot of horror stories because they give me nightmares but this one sounds interesting. I might have to grab a copy!

I've been on such a "creepy kick" lately, and oddly enough, it had nothing to do with Halloween being last month. I think that shorter novellas like this are often more difficult to write and don't get as much credit as longer works do. I would love to check this one out.
