This is a long book and although I enjoyed reading about the everyday life of 2 long time friends who decided to move on from what they had been doing and start over on another state and the girl they picked up along the way there were times I kind of wondered where this storyline was headed. The three of them ended up renting a house in Boston as friends--of course you know one of the guys and the girl had to get together at some point. But it was a rocky road. They frequented a local bar and made friends with the patrons. Most of the book is about ordinary type people living ordinary type lives. This book kind of reminded me of the TV series "Friends". They all begin to finally figure out what it is they want to do with their lives and set out to do just that.
I was floored by the ending and actually had tears in my eyes. I did not see it coming--not at all. I have a feeling that this book will remain with me for many more years to come.
About the book: (from Amazon)
Best friends Duncan and Ray run a successful bookie business in Phoenix. Outgrowing the life they began in college, the late twenty-something pair set out on the road with a plan to never return. Their trip takes them cross-country with eventful stops in Las Vegas, Omaha, and Niagara Falls. Along their journey they meet several colorful characters and even agree to bring a pretty young girl named Ruby along with them for the ride. Landing in Boston to run an errand for an old friend, the travelers begin to lay roots in an attempt to forge for themselves the life they’d always hoped for. Easier said than done. As romances begin to burgeon, and one of their lives is put in danger, the group quickly discovers that where they are may indeed have little effect on who they are.

I have read some books where the ending is kinda put together and you know what is going to happen. I like the books that give you a twist and changes it up! I am sure that I will pick up this book soon!
I love surprise endings when something major happens that I didn't see coming at all. This sounds like a good book!
I love to read but if a book starts off too slow I get bored.
I like that there's travel in this book as well as romance. Should be a good read
"Most of the book is about ordinary type people living ordinary type lives."
That is my type of book! Those are the ones I want to read and re-read.
I love that they stop at places along the way that are diverse. Omaha and Las Vegas are both great, but they're about as far apart as you can get in being similar.
I love books that are down to earth and showcase a lot of ordinary people that you can really relate to.
I love unexpected endings! The story line sound like something I would enjoy reading. i will stop over and check it out.
I will be adding this one to my list of To Be Read as well! You are bringing me such great books! thank you so much!
Oh this sounds exciting and you can never beat a book that has an unexpected end it can be so 'samey' when you guess whats going to happen over and over. x
I'm a pretty fast reader, so I don't mind longer novels, as long as they don't feel stagnant and slow just for the sake of filling pages. It sounds like this is a great read; thanks for passing it on to other readers! :)
Out of all the books you shared that I have wanted to read, I think this one will top the list. I love that it is more like ordinary people (loved Friends). I have to find out the ending now to see what happened.
I think this book sounds great. I enjoy reading about ordinary people and their lives.
I love that this book elicited such strong emotions in you when you read it. When the reader gets that emotionally involved in the book, it means it is a hit.
ok you have me wondering what the ending is really like. I now have to pick up this book so I can find out myself. Sounds like a good read!
Interesting book. Sounds like there are romance between the two guys and the girl didn't know... I may be misreading it... nice review!
I enjoyed the series Friends, so I think I would enjoy this book. Sometimes I just want to read a book that has a great story line and doesn't require me to think too much!
Wow, I haven't read a fiction book in such a long time and all of a sudden I'm really feeling like I need that release of just pure fun reading. Thanks for the review.
I have read for fun in a very long time. I like books about everyday folks and the plot twist has me hooked. Now I will have to read to just find out the ending.
I do not like books that are slow starting same with movies. I like the way the book sounds and may have to read some of the chapters to see if it is something I would enjoy.
Your emotional reaction to this makes me want to read it so badly. It sounded good anyhow, but wow.
This sounds like a great book!
