A parents worst nightmare-to lose a child. This book delves into the aftermath of this horrendous, literally nobodies fault, accident. It is both heartbreaking and heartwarming at times. The family is torn apart and I have to admit I sometimes wondered if they would be able to heal. It took an unexpected grandchild to "shock" them all into life again. This is a must read book. I am not going to say much more only that I really enjoyed reading this. I have included the link to Chapter 1 below!
About the Book:
Two years after their 12 year old daughter’s accidental death by a motorist, Claire and Jack Barnes go through the motions of celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. When artist Claire produces her gift–a full-scale oil painting of their daughter–Jack has had enough. With his daughter gone, his wife focused on the past and his 20 yearold son living on his own, Jack feels like a stranger in his own home and moves out the day after the party.
Claire understands they’re heading for divorce. Two days later, when she’s alone in the house, a young woman comes to the door and hands over her infant. This is their son’s baby. The girl says, “I told Ian she’d be too much work, and I’ve got other plans.” She disappears. Ian is ready to put the baby up for adoption because his daughter deserves a good, solid family, better than what the Barneses have become. Jack and Claire must figure out what to do next.
Intersecting the main stories of the Barnes family is the subplot involving the driver of the car. No alcohol, no speeding involved. But guilt seeps into the driver’s soul and changes her life. Who will forgive this woman?

It is so hard for me to read emotionally charged books. I get sucked right into the motions of all the characters
You never know when joy will come from :)
This sounds like a great book. I am heading over to Amazon to check it out! Thanks for sharing!
That sounds like a book that would be very tough to read. Especially if you've been through something similiar; however, it is a different storyline. I'll be adding this book to my list of books to read.
Oh my, I would really love to read this. I am guessing that the couple got back together and raised their grandchild themselves?
Sounds like a fabulous book! I will have to check it out next time I'm at hastings! Thanks so much for sharing!
This sounds like an emotional read, it is always nice to see the inspiration in the recovery after tragedy.
To be honest, this doesn't sound like a book I want to read. With my children being so young just the thought of losing one of them makes me sick to my stomach. It's hard not to relate to the characters of a book.
Can't imagine what it's like to loose a child. Thee book sounds very intersting.
Oh gosh this sounds like an amazing book such a hard subject to touch upon as well x
I had to peek through my fingers to make sure I would not read anything too heartbreaking. This is tough subject here. I like how it's going to end with the new baby piecing their hearts back together. But still so painful. I cry with romantic books, so can you imagine? I would need a box of kleenex for this one!
adding to list of to read books
Sounds like a heartwarming book. I hope the best for the family. I hope everything works out well for them.
I probably would be crying while reading this book.Just reading your review, I feel pain in my heart.
This is a parent's worst nightmare! I don't think I can read something like this. It would get me more paranoid than I already am!
can't imagine the pain what a parent will go through after losing a child.
This sounds like a real tear jurker. That's the keys to a well written book. Thanks for sharing I'm going to have to check this one out.
