Heavens, there are so many doctors retiring from medicine these days and writing fiction novels! Medical mysteries, suspense,etc has always been a favorite of mine so I am kind of happy----just wondering if there will be any doctors left to take care of the sick. The money for research is tight and this story delves a bit into what really goes on to get the grants needed to help find cures when there is little potential for the big pharmaceutical to make money down the line.
This is the story of a genuinely nice young man who only wants to be a doctor. He is sent to live with his cousin-a football star who has a less then stellar personality, who has his own ideas about how boys should be raised. His cousin has him earning his allowance by driving him around to poker games and other nefarious activities. Luckily for Darwin some of the other inhabitants of the mansion he now lives in take an interest in him. He wants to go to the best private schools and is introduced to some of the ultra rich who live in the neighborhood. A doctor takes Darwin under his wing and makes sure he gets what he needs, mentor and otherwise to succeed as a doctor. Unfortunately this particular family is not what it appears and Darwin finds that out the hard way. He also discovers that money does not necessarily equate with happiness.
I did enjoy reading this book, although it made me a little sad.

Sounds like a great book. I think that it is a good thing that it is written by a Doctor. I think it is important to have full knowledge of a subject before you write about it.
Sounds like a good book. Money really doesn't equate to happiness and I'm happy he found that out. So much people think though and it's a real eye opener when you realize its not true.

Sounds like it is a good book, unfortunately some things are learned the hard way and money is not the answer for everything. Can not wait to check this one out.
This must be very good book, i like medical terms too even though i have hard time understanding their term,s where there are better english forms of it.
