Carol A. Kivler, MS, CSP, President of Kivler Communications, is a speaker, motivator, training consultant, executive coach, and author. Her company provides customized corporate training and executive coaching to a wide range of corporations, organizations, government agencies, and school systems. She has conducted more than 2,500 corporate programs and motivational speeches.
Carol is also the founder of Courageous Recovery, through which she speaks to individuals, their loved ones and health care professionals to raise awareness, instill hope and combat stigma surrounding mental health diagnoses and treatments. She shares her journey of recovery from four bouts of medication-resistant depression and her positive experience with life-saving ECT (shock therapy) through speeches, her books and her blog. Carol was the first non-mental health professional on the Board of Directors of NAMI-Mercer, NJ and continues to be actively involved in its mission. I totally agree. I have always felt that the way you perceive the world has a huge effect on your body. Think healthy be healthy, think sad be sad... It's good for the mind is good for the body and soul.
I like the way that there is a spot for readers to jot their feelings/reflections down. That gives them a chance to actually read or re-read the essay and think about the meaning.
I learned Carol speaks to medical and mental health professionals, associations, businesses, patients, and the families and friends of those diagnosed with mental illness
People nowadays are more brawn than brain, with all the information up and ready on the Internet. So this could be a great activity to pump the brain into developing.
I learned this the hard way -- plummeting into a deep depression, I wallowed there for years. Once my pastor helped me see how my thoughts affected my actions, I started changing my perspective. The Bible says, "whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things." I think God knows what he's talking about!
Sounds like a great book and one that would benefit many. Mental health does affect our bodies. When you worry, you can literally worry yourself sick.
I love the Eleanor Roosevelt quote she has on her page, " You must always do the thing that you think you cannot do." It's easier said than done though!

Visiting the site I learned she suffers from depression. I enjoy reading thought provoking books so I imagine this is a great read.
I learned that Carol suffers from periodic acute bouts of medication-resistant depression. I believe, telling her story and helping to remove the stigma of mental illness is such an AWESOME gift and motivation to those suffering to seek the help they need.
Now this is what I like to read. Our mental health is, I believe the most important part of our system that we need to care for. It is the root of many illnesses and our entire well-being. I will be getting one of these! Thanks for recommending it!
Sounds interesting. I think if more people got this kind of help that maybe there wouldn't be so many shootings and anger in the world.
I think this is great. I like that it's short readings, each one inspirational. I think I would like something like this to remind us what's really important!
I have had several close friends suffer from mental illnesses and I think anything that helps to explain the recovery process is awesome!
I was going to say that it doesn't apply to me, and I'd like to think it doesn't. However, I have no doubt that if I were to thumb throuh as you suggested, there would certainly be a few areas of discussion that would be interesting.

Mental illness is very serious matter and I have family members and friends who suffer from it. I think any resource that helps those who have it to somehow cope and even recuperate is valuable.
What an awesome book! I myself have suffered depression after some bad circumstances, and I was completely unaware such a thing was actually real until it happened to me. What a beneficial book for people!
There is a lot of interesting topics on her website. I bookmarked it and followed her on Facebook. I will have to take some time to really look around. This looks like an awesome book.

This can be a very inspiring book to change the way you look at yourself and actions. I truly believe if you have a better outlook you will be happier and healthier. There is so much about the brain that no one knows about.
