Books, Books and MORE Books!!

I am and always have been an avid reader, unstoppable really. But honestly I don’t think I have ever read as many books in as short a time as I have now that I review them. Unless the book is about a subject I know I will not like, I can’t seem to say no. I started reading and writing reviews for books when a NYC publishing house found me. I still do not know how!! OH, wait a minute, yes I do. In the beginning I used to buy books and then have a review/giveaway on my blog. Somehow they noticed and contacted me. Then Pump Up Your Book noticed me. Author’s, in the beginning, occasionally contacted me on their own. Now someplace I’m not sure exactly what they are but they have been giving my name to the authors who have been contacting me individually, constantly.

Up until very recently I would only accept paperback copies to review. I do not own a Kindle or any other kind of e-reader. Another reader, whose review I commented on, told me where to go to get a free Kindle App for my computer. I now have that installed on my computer. I have also figured out how to download a PDF version onto my desktop and read the book that way. I can understand why authors, publishing houses etc would prefer to send or giveaway e-books; they are a whole lot less expensive! My back and neck are now killing me from sitting on a chair in front of my computer and reading. It really is so much more comfortable lying down in bed and reading.

Will I continue doing book reviews and related giveaways? I most certainly will be—and the books coming up in April, May and June (yup-I’m booked that far in advance) are really very good; aching back and all!! I just wish I could get paid for some of them (book reviewers do not get paid-they receive copies of the book). Or maybe figure out how to contact someone who needs a proofreader!!
