Seasons of the Vineyard is a beautifully written novel of life’s changing seasons. It revolves around the life of a woman who has come full circle from an unhappy wife to a fulfilled human being, just like the grapes in her family’s vineyard back in California. Francesca Bernard has a teenage son who is in with the wrong crowd in Colorado where she went to escape her life in California and all that was wrong. When she gets a call from her father’s foreman of many years, Enrico, that her father is acting very strange—she returns to her home in California and the vineyard that her parents grew and nurtured. While caring for her father, who has Alzheimer’s and managing the vineyard-she comes to realize that this is really where she belongs. There is a love story which is touched upon, problems encountered along the way but ultimately love prevails along with the grapes of the vineyard. I really do not want to reveal anymore since to do so would give away the plot. I highly recommend this book—definitely should be on everyone’s to be read list!
