Congratulations! Now all the winner has to do is reply to the email I will be sending in just a few minutes within 48 hours with their full name and mailing address and I will mail this book out to them.

Amy Shea was brought up in poverty in Brooklyn, NY. But instead of letting this get her angry, she decided to fight back! I was brought up middle class, but like Amy with a Mom who was and still is my polar opposite! Also, like Amy Shea I decided that I would much rather not get married-but instead lived with men. Amy Shea preferred just dating them!

Society itself (much less our family and friends) tries to form us into a “norm”—but are we truly happy? I know for myself I have had to fight every inch of the way-and sometimes even win- to be who I want to be when I want to and change if I want to!

In Defending Happiness there are five short stories of the struggles Amy Shea went through to be happy!

“ We learn from her life journey as she shares the following of how she:

Raises her two children after two divorces—and swears off marriage, but not men
Relentlessly faces dieting and aging
Rebels against her Catholic upbringing
Lets breast cancer change her life for the better
Learns to let go of parenting while remaining a mother”

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and know you will to!!

I already LOVE you :)
and... I have to say, I agree w/her theory of sometimes marriage just isn't the way to go for people. Enjoy life, date, live together... be happy!

Amy Shea's first short story was featured in a national magazine when she was just 13 years old. She has continued to write throughout her life, publishing numerous poems in literary journals and anthologies, receiving the prestigous Dylan Thomas Poetry Fellowship in Paris, France, sponsored by the Paris Review, as well as a coveted residency at the world-famous MacDowell
