Dee Marvin Emeigh is a friend of mine. We go all the way back to high school days. You may remember when I had a giveaway for her album (what an absolutely beautiful untrained voice she has!!) Well now Dee has gone and written a book!!
This is the press release for my friend Dee's new book!!
MILFORD AUTHOR TELLS OF CHURCH ABUSES IN FREE BOOK
Milford, DE. July 16, 2012 - Dee Marvin Emeigh looks unassuming enough, but the 61-year old grandmother’s new book, Cafeteria Covenant - The voice, the choice, and the challenge, packs a powerful punch to the organized church and from August 3-5, 2012 the Kindle version of the book will be available FREE.
AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL
Heartbreakingly real, but heartwarmingly sincere, Cafeteria Covenant presents simple truths and Emeigh painstakingly delivers this message as a faithful witness: relationship with God is a choice, available to all who choose it. The book moves the reader through 93 pages, chronicling experience, expounding on parables and prayers and concluding in the revelation of the New Covenant, a covenant of choice.
Emeigh tells of the abuse of power and doctrinal error that kept her effectively silenced for forty years, citing her experience as an abused wife sent back into the ring for round after round, and outlining the repeated rigid restrictions, rudeness, and insults she encountered in exchange for offering her vocal and songwriting talent. Still, in spite of her ransacked self-esteem, Emeigh saw something higher than the church walls and the God they claimed to encompass. She sought and found a rock-solid relationship with the Almighty, whose message she learned to trust through it all. She leaves out the gory details and changes the names, but the facts remain: something has gone terribly wrong with the Church in general.
Emeigh makes every effort to be civil, but doesn’t apologize if she steps on some toes. And, while she realizes her book is controversial, even using as a reference a new Bible translation, The Voice, she believes it’s time for the truth.
HOPE AND TRIUMPH
Although abounding in adversity, the book also recounts personal triumphs like finding love, overcoming financial disaster, and returning to college after 35 years. In addition, Cafeteria Covenant reveals the stories behind some of the songs on Emeigh’s 2011 CD project, Well Seasoned.

I think this would be an interesting read. There are a lot of questions I have. I grew up catholic but...I'd like to see her point of view with what she's been through.
Sounds Interesting. Though i am not a huge reader, certainly this will be packed with emotional similarities, ups and downs that most women facing such issues experience. Regardless of religion.
Sounds really interesting.
Sounds like quite an emotional story. How nice for it to be offered as a free download too. I hope it helps heal a lot of hearts along the way.
Sounds like a very interesting read. I'm sure it will touch the hearts of many.
This sounds really interesting, can't wait to read it.
There is a whole other dimension when abuse is tied in with religion. It is awesome that she has triumphed over her low points and changed them into something beautiful and inspiring. This is an amazing post. Thank you for introducing me to her music and book!
I will look out for the kindle version, this sounds very interesting.
