This book is about an aging man who started life as a poor boy. He runs away from his home and ends up indentured (willingly) in Englands Navy. His one and only true love, his wife, who he actually saved from pirates, which is how they met, wants him to get his total story on paper-there is much she is still curious about. As the story progresses, this modest, chivalrous, and truly good man has many adventures. He is one of the few people who remains true to himself and his ideals. He is extremely lucky as well! This is the first in a series and I can't wait to read the second installment (and all of them after that as well). Mike Hartner knows how to write a book and keep his audiences attention!
About the Book (from Amazon)
Walter Crofter was born into Elizabethan England. In a country and a time where favor and politics were both deadly, can an honest boy stay true to himself? Especially given his family background? I, Walter is the first in a series of books in a saga which will span continents and time to arrive in present day North America. Each in the series will be connected, though that connection may not be obvious for several more books. It's almost like looking at a menorah (sic).. Many lines, seemingly individual, connect to center at different points.
This book can be purchased at Amazon and other great venues

Sounds like a very good book. I love series because you get to stay with your favorite characters so much longer.
I had a series I read as a teen that followed one family from 1700 England through present day times. It was neat to see the thread go through so many books and generations.
another good book
I love reading romantic stories. I had my fair time reading Mills & Boones in my younger years.
Sounds like a good read, the adventure and the love story together.
