Jane Feather is one of those writers who can make you laugh and daydream and yes, she is one of my favorite authors!! I read this book 3 times—think I LOVED it!!!

Love’s Charade starts just at the beginning of the French Revolution—our heroine—just a child at the time manages to escape the fate of her entire family. She manages to make her way to the back streets of the city dressed and acting like a young boy!! Like all the other orphans back then she often had to steal for a day old crust of bread—well she got caught by the baker and that is where the story really begins!! Our hero decides to intervene on the, what he thinks is the young boys behalf—It is not until later that he discovers that the young ruffian is in actuality a not that young female. All the antics that come after will make you laugh—our heroine is a ball of trouble with a mouth of a sailor-
even after finally marrying our hero------
